About the Program

A phone bank is a structured program to reach out to large groups of people. Though the calls are placed virtually, one-on-one, using the CallHub platform. You will be following a script, and have support from a team leader during the project.

Mission VetCheck: A collaboration between New York Cares and the Department of Veterans Services, providing veterans with information about how to access vital services like free meals or mental health services through phone banking.

The transition into civilian life can be highly challenging for veterans. Studies show 44-72% of veterans experience high stress in military-civilian transition, and half may not access resources post-service. By conducting these phone calls we help to simplify the process for thousands of veterans. Most city agencies and non-profits do not have the manpower for such scaled outreach.

Our Partners

A collaboration between the NYC Department of Veterans’ Services, and New York Cares, Mission Vet Check provides veterans with information about how to access vital public services, including free meals, housing, and mental health resources.

I have learned so much being a part of this project. I have encountered several veterans whose lives have been fundamentally changed due to the services provided through the Department of Veterans Services. Through the intervention of DVS, they entered into the shelter system and now have found permanent housing for themselves and their families, job training and upcoming job placement."
